Spain Language Immersion in Andalucia
ORIENTATION IN MADRID
Your adventure begins with an action-packed, three-day orientation in Madrid. Put your Spanish to use as you order tapas in a local café, ask for directions to the Palacio Real, and explore the city’s medieval streets. Visits to the Prado Museum on Madrid’s “museum mile,” discussions in city parks, and explorations of diverse neighborhoods strengthen your understanding of contemporary Spanish life and culture. Your orientation concludes with a full-day excursion to historic Toledo.
HOMESTAY AND LANGUAGE TRAINING
Voyage into the southern Spanish province of Andalucía for hands-on language training and cultural immersion. For 12 days, the magnificent city of Córdoba becomes your classroom. Study with a small group of students in a language school that welcomes beginning- and intermediate-level students. Four hours of language instruction per weekday focus on conversational skills, grammar, and Spanish culture and society. Cultural activities, music, theater, and excursions help put your language learning to use. Following language training, spend two weeks with your new family. Practice your Spanish at home and in plazas, cafés, and markets while integrating into the daily life of a typical Andalusian community.
Sample activities: Visit the Andalusian cities of Granada or Malaga; swim in the Mediterranean; participate in street festivals or parades; take in a guitar and flamenco show; enjoy an overnight in the mountains with Spanish youth; participate in a cooking workshop.
Sample host communities: Guadix, Priego de Córdoba, Cabra
